WSO Removal from Produced WaterBaleen Process Solutions 10,000,000+ barrels Treated
A deep-water asset in the Gulf of Mexico experienced an increase in Water Soluble Organics WSO (silica gel extractable material) present in their produced water. The increase in WSO caused the produced water to be out of regulatory compliance when utilizing the facilities flotation unit. The platform installed a solids filtration unit to remove solids present in the produced water and granular activated carbon technology to polish the water prior to discharging into the Gulf of Mexico.
Deployment of a non-consumable treatment option to remove free and oil wet solids, The Kleen CM and WSO Removal Treatment Package can be custom engineered to tie into the platform process for seamless operation.
The goal of The Kleen CM and WSO Removal Treatment System:

• Significantly reduce consumable media and media disposal charges

• Increase oil production by maximizing amount of water discharged
Baleen Process Solutions worked closely with platform personnel to provide a seamless water treating package that interfaced with the existing platform systems. The backbone of the Baleen treatment package for solids removal is the Kleen CM Skid. This regeneratable polymeric media technology remove solids and works well even in high oil and grease concentration fluids. The high efficient solids removal technology extends the life of the WSO removal technology by protecting it from being fouled with oil wet solids.
Baleen technical personnel completed all necessary documentation (PFD, PIDs, SAFE Chart, SAFD reviewed by a professional engineer) for Baleen system to submit to BSEE for MOC.
