Chemical Injection of H2S ScavengerBaleen Process Solutions successfully executes chemical injection of Hydrogen Sulfide Scavenger to reduce the H2S content within export crude specifications.

Baleen Process Solutions’ customer had a high concentration of H2S in their export crude. The project had a specific goal to improve quality of crude making it sellable by reducing the H2S content in export lines as required by buyers specifications.

Direct injection of H2S scavenger into the customers crude sales line operating at 10,000 bph was required to meet the sales export specification. Reducing the H2S content in export crude improves product quality and reduces exposure to environmental and safety risks and decreases the severity of corrosion.

Baleen Process Solutions was selected to design and pump the designated product into the export crude lines

Baleen Process Solutions worked closely with the operator to engineer a custom-tailored solution and achieve the project goals:

  • Perform Incident-Free Operations (IFO)
  • Perform pumping directly into the crude stream to yield soluble, biologically friendly by-products.
  • Meet injection rates and required pressure specifications
  • Minimize corrosion through the removal of H2S
  • Meet sales specifications for H2S content at a maximum of 10 ppm

Maintain an overall project budget

Baleen Process Solutions designed our chemical injection system to handle volume and pressure swings. The custom- tailored design incorporated Baleen’s chemical injection pumps injecting H2S Scavenger continuously into the pipeline stream at varying rates of 0.5 gpm to 7 gpm and varying pressures greater than 120 psi.

Baleen successfully treated approximately 50,000,000 million barrels of crude over a 5 month period The H2S and corrosion were effectively controlled. H2S content was reduced to a maximum of 10 ppm or less.
